Ops First

Services

Four ways in.
One trajectory.

Every engagement opens the same way. A focused two week diagnostic that gives you an honest read on where the business sits and what to do first. Whatever comes next is built on what it surfaces.

The Ops Diagnostic

Two weeks. From the noise to the next move.

A full operational audit of your business using the Ops Scorecard framework. Two weeks, end to end.

Interviews with the leadership team, a structured review of process, systems, KPIs and org design, and a written deliverable you can take to the sponsor.

  • ·A 25-page maturity report scored across six dimensions of operating maturity.
  • ·A prioritised 90-day roadmap, with owners and dependencies.
  • ·A 60-minute findings session with the leadership team.
  • ·A short sponsor briefing if useful.

Outcome: clarity on what's broken, what's working, and what to do first.

Project Delivery

A defined scope. A defined window. Delivered.

Sometimes the business doesn't need an embed or a retainer. It needs a specific programme of work delivered cleanly.

M&A integration, ERP or CRM rollout, leadership cadence install, ops migration, post deal carve out, value creation plan execution. Anything with a clear scope, a clear deliverable, and a finish line.

  • ·Scoped, costed, and delivered against a defined timeline.
  • ·I lead the project, your team learns it. Same handover discipline as the embed.
  • ·Weekly executive check ins, clear status, clean escalation paths.
  • ·Clean handover at the end. The team owns it from day one of the next phase.

Outcome: the programme of work delivered, the team trained to run it without me.

The 90-Day Embed

Three months in. The backbone goes in.

Three months embedded with the leadership team, two to three days a week.

I take the diagnostic roadmap and execute the highest-leverage moves alongside the existing team. Systems get installed, KPIs get owned, rituals get adopted, and the team learns to run them.

  • ·Operating cadence designed and rolled out: weekly, monthly, quarterly.
  • ·KPI tree owned at function level, with reporting wired to source data.
  • ·Process rebuilds for the two or three workflows that matter most.
  • ·Sponsor reporting moved from quarterly fire drill to monthly self service.

Outcome: an operational backbone the leadership team can run without me.

The Fractional COO Retainer

Ongoing. The senior operator in the room.

Whatever cadence the business needs, for as long as the value creation plan demands.

I run alongside the leadership team, not as a contractor, but as the operational co-pilot the CEO and sponsor can rely on through the next phase. Some retainers are a couple of days a month. Others are most of a working week. We size to fit.

  • ·Sponsor reporting and board prep.
  • ·Senior hiring: briefs, scorecards, interviews.
  • ·M&A integration support.
  • ·Value creation plan execution and quarterly recalibration.

Outcome: a scaling business with sponsor grade operational discipline.

Looking for something more light touch?

Not every business needs a two-week audit or a 90-day embed. Sometimes a single conversation is enough to point you in the right direction.

Send a few sentences on what's on your mind. If I can help in an hour, I will. If you need more, I'll say so.

Frequently asked

A few things people ask before the first call.

Will you sign an NDA?

Always. NDAs come before any commercial conversation. Reciprocal, mutual, and standard market terms.

Do you work with non-PE businesses?

Yes. Founder led scale-ups planning a raise or a sale are a natural fit, as are established businesses where the leadership team wants a senior operator alongside them. Pure lifestyle businesses are not.

Which sectors?

B2B SaaS, professional services, tech enabled consumer brands, and industrial scale-ups. The work is sector-agnostic when the operating challenge is universal.

Can you partner with our existing team?

Yes; and that's the goal. I'm here to enable your leadership team, not replace them. Where the operating model needs additional permanent hires, I help you write the briefs.

How do we start?

A 30-minute call. If there is a fit, the diagnostic is the door. If there is not, you leave with a useful conversation.

The Ops Scorecard.
Ten minutes. Free.

The same framework I use on day one of every diagnostic. Eighteen statements across six dimensions, with the three priority moves at the foot of your report.
